I'm going to have to ignore rules 5 through 7. I don't know enough blogs to nominate 11 people!
1. What’s your second favorite TV show?
I don't really watch TV. So I'm not sure what my second favorite would really be... When I was a child it might have been Bear in the Big Blue House or Adventures in the Book of Virtues.
2. If you could only read the works of one author all the rest of your life, who would you choose? (The Bible is exempted from this.)
This is a hard question! Maaaybe G. K. Chesterton. Or Tolkien.
3. What’s a fun fact about yourself that you would like people to know, but there’s never a good opportunity to bring up?
Well... I don't really have any interesting facts about myself, personally. But!
My great-great-grandfather was an artist.
There's a story that he was once in an art contest, and it just so happened that there was only one other guy in the show who was also entering a sculpture. So this other guy complains about my great-great-grandfather throughout the show, even causing the authorities to become involved. Was the guy jealous? Was he crazy? Was my great-great-grandfather actually doing anything to annoy him?
Who knows! I don't. 😂
This all accumulated into the guy accusing my great-great-grandfather of casting real animals, instead of carving the sculpture and then casting it. Because of this, great-great-grandfather was disqualified from the contest.
The story goes that great-great-grandfather didn't contest the accusation, but after the contest was over, he made another sculpture from wax, which cannot be cast. Thus, proving his skill, and that the sculpture he entered into the contest was really his own work.
4. Tell us a random weird word that you like.
Serindipity and geology.
5. You’re going to Mordor with the Ring, and you’re assembling your Fellowship! Which eight fictional characters (from any fictional works, not just LOTR) do you want to come with you, and why? (If you aren’t familiar with The Lord of the Rings, just assemble eight fictional characters you would want to bring along on a dangerous quest.)
I read this question wrong at first and thought we were only meant to choose people from other books. Which resulted in a very interesting group.
I had ran out of ideas by number 5 though, so adding people from LotR helped.
1. Flambeau from Father Brown short stories.
2. Nancy Drew from Nancy Drew
3. Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock Holmes short stories.
4. Dym from Enemy Brothers
5. Con from The Crystal Snowstorm
6. Rosie Cotton
7. Eowyn
8. Treebeard
I think everyone would be having fun except for Treebeard, Holmes, and Eowyn. 😂
But maybe those three would become friends and roll their eyes at the rest of them.
6. Do you on the whole prefer movies from before or after 1960? Why?
After 1960. I don't really like black and white movies, and video cameras before around 2010 seem low quality now.
7. Suppose you’re tasked with creating a flag for a new country. What does it look like?
I would want it to be dark royal blue, and have maybe 3 golden oak leaves probably. And have a golden border.
8. Is poetry or prose fiction more expressive? Do you think one form is higher than the other?
I think that prose can be more expressive. It is easier to see people's emotions in a book.
As for one being higher. I don't think so. They are just two different styles of writing. To me personally, poetry can be really beautiful, but I've never really liked to sit and read books of poetry. I prefer books.
9. What are the last three songs you listened to?
The last three that I can remember are:
To Saint Michael by Luke Spehar
Years by The Hunts
Song of Kings by Clamavi de Profundis
10. If you had the ability to make it so that it was always your favorite season of the year, would you do it?
I wouldn't. Because although I like Spring, I would miss the other seasons.
11. Dream cast your favorite actor and actress (either can be from any time period; this is dream casting, after all!) in an adaptation of the classic book you think they’re best suited for.
I don't actually have a favorite actor or actress.
Hmm. Maybe Alec Guinness.
Who could he play? Oh! He could be Bleheris from The Hidden Treasure of Glaston.
There were only like, two females in that book. And neither of them were main characters. 😂
But maybe Haley Mills could play the girl who gave her dog away while traveling in the royal company.
Thanks for doing this; I loved reading your answers!
ReplyDeleteI loved the story about your great-great-grandfather! And serendipity is one of my favorite words as well, heh.
Something in me loves the idea of Eowyn, Treebeard, and Holmes just hanging out together and grousing about everyone else. xD
